“When we say the racing is hard at our annual Club Criterium Championships… we mean it! A race of high intensity, constant attacks and breakaways that stick make this once a year event a true race of attrition! Congratulations to Cliodhna Tormey our 2015 Masters 1-4 Women Club Criterium Champion! A special mention also goes out to Sian “Xena” Lindner for second!”…

A Kiwi Country Classic...How good is Taumarunui?

The Dave Logue Cycle Classic has developed into a great warm up event for the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge. There has been a growing group of cyclists who ride from Auckland to participate at the Dave Logue Classic and then cycle on to the Taupo event before returning home

Whenever Andy and I tell people about the origins of the Domestique 7 Peaks Series we take them back to the first ride of the first series. A New Zealand Weather Forecast

NZ Met ServiceSo if you haven’t been to yet to see the status of the evil weather sausage…here is our take on it. The sausage should shrink to an#EvilWeatherPolony – BUT a moist rain steak might move in across the other bits of the region.
SO Saturday is looking damp, but at least the weather sausage should move away from where the bike people will be in Taupo.
FYI this is just an outlook – so all the bike people still have a chance of a sunny race…if you keep singing your kumbayas. See for non-BBQ weather science. #MoistRainSteak #CrazyBikePeople

Martinborough Muster:1Martinborough Muster:3Martinborough Muster:2Martinborough Muster:5

A Martinborough Muster  a bit of sheep dung in the air and plenty of Kiwi Country gravel…. Epic riding by all. 5 full finishers and 5 completing a truncated course. Hope everyone had a heap of fun up the coast. This is sure to become a classic.

Kiwi Randonneurs is about catering to all sorts of riders and are making some initial forays into the world of gravel brevets this year. This is your opportunity to ride around seldom seen parts of the Wairarapa including a wonderful coastal section and the grunty Admiral Hill. If the last few times I’ve done this ride is anything to go by you’ll be talking about it for a while yet.

A 200km Gravel Brevet, and operates under the new Kiwi Randonneurs Gravel rules. The time-limit for a 200km Gravel Brevet is 16 hours.

Start/Finish for this ride is at the pub in Martinborough Square.

As per Kiwi Randonneur gravel brevet rules checkpoints are by text message to the organiser and by photo checkin. Please advise links for these checkins on completion. Strava is preferred with GPX file linked to instagram account with geotagged photos….continue to event page

Love your sister Selfies in the mirrorSam Johnson

Samuel Johnson’s poetic discovery

Innocently rummaging through his father’s filing cabinet, Samuel Johnson makes an important personal discovery.

My brother always has his smile on for Love Your Sister but there’s so much else. He won’t like that I posted this cause it’s not about me or the cause, but I really wanted to show you guys the other side of the brother that made Love Your Sister. This is my real brother, without the pink. I love you Samuel, I’m glad you wrote this for our family. XX Connie

(Important note : The sister referenced is in this piece is not me, but our eldest sister.)
